Dr. Callewart and dozens of other physicians recently traveled to Washington D.C. to discuss state and federal regulation with the Department of Health and Human Services.
Out of 70 physicians, Dr. Callewart was the one selected to give testimony in front of Health and Human Services, the Department of Labor, and the U.S. Treasury. Dr. Callewart’s testimony was about proposed insurance regulation changes.
He believes it is crucial that our local health professionals take an active role in shaping legislation, as it can impact you in a number of ways.
For example, federal regulation can help ensure that all Americans have access to high-quality healthcare. Additionally, legislators often create incentives for medical providers to adopt new technologies or treatments. This can be beneficial for you, as it allows us to stay up-to-date on the latest advances in medicine.
Of course, there are also drawbacks to state and federal regulation. For instance, overly burdensome rules can create unnecessary red tape and delay important medical treatments. It’s therefore important that our local health leaders work with legislators to strike the right balance between protecting patients and ensuring efficient healthcare delivery.
Dr. Callewart is hopeful that the recent trip to Washington D.C. will help improve healthcare for our region’s patients. “I would like to thank all of the physicians that traveled with me. We truly believe that traveling to Washington and meeting with the Department of Health and Human Services in-person will have a positive impact within our local communities.”
