Craig C. Callewart, M.D. Dallas Orthopedic Treatment & Surgery
Exceptional Orthopedic Care for Dallas Patients
Dr. Callewart believes that the best option for patients is one that involves the least amount of surgery. In fact, about two-thirds of his patients are treated without surgery by using medications, physical therapy, and other nonsurgical treatments.
Dr. Callewart employs a state-licensed, certified physician’s assistant with over 30 years of experience in brain, neck, and back problems who is typically available to see a patient within 24 hours and often the same day which can save you an expensive trip to the emergency room or urgent care facility. The physician assistant can write prescriptions for some pain medicine, muscle relaxers, and physical therapy as well as order MRI’s and CAT scans with all cases being reviewed by Dr. Callewart.
As an experienced spine surgeon, Dr. Craig C. Callewart takes a highly personal approach to caring for his patients.
Dr. Callewart believes that the most important aspect of providing quality care is establishing good relationships with his patients, involving them in their treatment plans and personally discussing the details of each procedure with every patient.

Dr. Callewart’s Holistic Approach to Orthopedic Care
Pain relief does not happen by using the newest surgical device or by addressing a certain problem. Rather, it involves treating the whole person. That includes making an assessment of the patient’s activity level and daily physical requirements.
Each patient must consider whether their body can continue overuse after surgery. Surgery will treat the problem, but often not completely cure it. Our bodies wear out and are not replaceable. Lifestyle, spiritual tools, support network, and financial considerations all come together to affect whether the patient will improve after treatment. We encourage patients to find a surgeon who considers all these factors instead of looking for a physician and surgeon who promotes tiny incisions and fast recovery.
