Testimonials

Here you can read stories from patients Dr. Callewart has treated and how they feel about their experiences while under his care.

  • Dr. Callewart and Joe are both very caring and concerned with their patient’s concerns. I am very satisfied with the care I have received. I am particularly blessed by the professionalism throughout the office and yet I have felt that everyone in the office care about me as a person. I’ve been in too many doctor offices that I feel I’m just another person being rushed through. That has never happened in Dr. Callewart’s office. Thanks Dr. Callewart for choosing the right people to work with you.

  • I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Dr. Callewart and his staff made sure that my visit was exceptional, from start to finish. I was very impressed with the professionalism that was displayed during my visit. I was able to leave with a clear understanding of what exactly needed to be done, and I was given options. I highly recommend Dr. Callewart and his staff…

  • Dr. Callewart is the best. He has operated on me twice and 5 different family members, would not trust anyone else to work on my neck or back or that of my family.

  • I don’t know what I would have done without Dr. Callewart’s expertise, knowledge, and skills. Recently, I was diagnosed with a severely pinched nerve in my lower back, and he scheduled emergency surgery. Due to his listening skills in my pre-op visit and his surgical skills, my life and recovery is now quite positive. In my opinion, there is no finer orthopedic/neurological surgeon than Dr. Craig Callewart.

  • Very knowledgeable. Explains in detail in a such a way that is understandable. Personable and caring.

  • Dr. Craig Callewart has played a critical role in my life since 2004. Over the course of 12 years, he has aided me in identifying and treating spinal scoliosis to ensure I continue to enjoy a healthy lifestyle. Dr. Callewart has provided me with sound medical counseling in a personable, friendly environment.

Although there were a couple of less invasive surgical options, Dr. Callewart chose to install legacy rods along my spine in 2013. This is not a surgery to be considered outside the most demanding spinal conditions. Because Dr. Callewart had thoroughly studied by condition and earned my trust, I never doubted the decision. The surgery actually took two full days. The first day was hard on my body. Although Dr. Callewart had spent about nine hours in surgery with me, he remained at the hospital and personally monitored me well into the next morning. My family was so reassured by his presence, and he earned their trust as well. I’m now three years post-surgery, and during this time Dr. Callewart has provided me with an enormous number of hours of professional advice, personal attention, and friendly disposition, which encourages an open dialogue.

One cannot consider Dr. Callewart without including his physicians assistant Joe Nagy. Joe has such a fun and joyful personality, which he utilizes to draw patients close and make them comfortable. Beginning in 2004, Joe welcomed my family and me as a patient with hugs and jokes. I love that! Joe takes the time to develop friendships and put patients at ease. Joe is intimately involved with patients and is as aware of their conditions as Dr. Callewart. As I previously stated, the first day of surgery involved some difficult hours. Joe made sure to find my family before entering the second surgery to reassure them that I would be fine. He put them at ease. I will always be thankful.

The staff that Dr. Callewart has put together is friendly and eager to help. They are respectful of me and my time and have the office well organized. Each staff member calls me by name. If the doctor is running late due to surgery or other unavoidable delays, the staff will call to let patients know.

I am thankful every day to have found Dr. Callewart, Joe, and the staff. They are in my thoughts most days as I realize that my life would not be nearly as enjoyable or healthy without them.

  • My friend, my spine surgeon, and the man who was integral in saving my life is Dr. Craig C. Callewart. The phrase “six degrees of separation” has a profound impact in regard to my relationship with Dr. Callewart. Following the 1996 U.S. Open Men and Women’s National Indoor Volleyball Championship, I made a series of visits to the leading spinal surgeons in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. There were three surgeons on the list, and Dr. Callewart was the last one I visited. As I sat in his exam room clutching my latest spine scans, I glanced at a piece of literature describing the various surgeons in the practice. As I reviewed Dr. Callewart’s biography, I noticed that he completed his orthopedic residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cleveland.

When Dr. Callewart walked in and introduced himself, my first question was, “Do you know Dr. John Hardacre?” He smiled and asked, “How do you know him?” I explained that I was a professional volleyball athlete, and Dr. Hardacre performed my first big orthopedic knee surgery. Dr. Callewart then explained that Dr. Hardacre trained him as an orthopedic surgeon. At that moment, I realized that I had found the surgeon to care for my spine concerns.

Twenty years have passed since that day, and Dr. Callewart has been with me throughout my journey. Neither of us had any idea what lay ahead in coping with my damaged spine. Without Dr. Callewart’s help to guide and repair my spine, I don’t know what I would have done. He allowed me a level of physical and emotional function to continue with a full, active life.

I always remember the saying “there are no coincidences” when I think back to meeting Dr. Callewart. Without him and his assistant, Joe Nagy, PA, I am not sure if I could have survived the travails of the last 20 years. I will be eternally grateful for Dr. Craig Callewart and Joe Nagy.
